Refining the question

Notes so far:

ORIGINAL QUESTION

"How can a product aimed at the general public attending loud music events, protect against long term hearing damage as well as being an appealing accessory that does not reduce the quality or experience of music?"

REFINING THE QUESTION

How can hearing protection in the entertainment industry be an enjoyable and attractive product for the general public, without the cost of audibility?

How can hearing protection for general use in nightclubs be an enjoyable and attractive product that fits the clubbing ‘image’, without losing audibility?

Testing Artefact with Chris Bailey - Boy in the Corner, Dairy Studios, Brixton

Going to take artefact and visit Chris Bailey for some feedback after uni today, as he's having a late session mixing in the studio The Dairy studios, Brixton

Also after feedback from Tom Gunston, going to test the isolation of the comply foam tips in a club environment for bgn (background noise) e.g. loud levels of music.
Chris is going to replicate 100 - 110 dB in his studio of club music and I'm going to ideally get him to play a track I have on my player and I can see if I can hear the playback over the environment music he will be playing at average nightclub noise levels. Because if the comply foam doesn't isolate from enough of the background sound/music, then the effects of the binaural app will not be noticeable enough, and I will have to research further in to a way to improve isolation.

HSL MEETING ON FRIDAY 2ND SEPT

An absolutely and hugely successful meeting with Liz Brueck of HSL in Buxton on friday, notes and photos to follow as I really have had *no* time to update yet. After 6 hours of driving at the weekend and a night of no sleep at the hotel thanks to the non-stop traffic on the main road right outside my bedroom window, I was absolutely knackered by the time I got home and mainly collapsed in a brainless stupor until monday morning (today) and to be honest, I'm still not really alive yet. Will update asap - hopefully by wednesday before I forget. Feedback form response from Liz will no doubt help remind me of things I may have forgotten.

But tonight: been working on my mail to Liz following her response today (sent!) the external collaborator feedback form (completed) my bibliography googledoc (updated) and my progress report to send to Tobi with copy of the artefact for him to review and feedback (in progress).
I look forward to collapsing in to bed. New fluffy duvet for sleeping in until 2012 after we graduate.
Long day tomorrow, to hold the last meeting at the studio in CSM.
Must remember to give Bushra the cd with the footage of the 'journey' to the studio, which I filmed a few weeks back for the marketing footage to support our exhibition.
Meeting Hun before the meeting to discuss catalogue design update (sent him and kristian an updated template of the 'fold out' idea, which I communicated in the design notes following the meeting a couple of weeks ago following my meeting with motion printing.

Artefact - updated for HSL visit

Thanks to Dazz for dropboxing the files on my home pc so I could print them at work. Damn usb stick didn't bloody work.
Updated the graphic and put in a clear plastic stand, now double sided including system overview text by Tom. (removed this graphic due to protection of system specifications - intellectual copyright of idea)

Artefact created to deadline!

I'm not happy with the text design for the brand name "headphix", the name I really like as the original idea of Headmix was slightly altered by a suggestion from Tom. I really like the twist on the drug scene in the word.
This design is only for early communication purposes, by no means in the slightest bit polished which is why I am really struggling to leave it alone. But I'm running out of time to get things ready for the HSL visit with Liz this friday and I will be giving the finance exhibition meeting with my Dad in london tomorrow, so no time to polish this anywhere near as much as I want to.
But hopefully this will do for stage 1 artefact. To be presented in a plastic holder / stand.
Additional page / reverse side with system overview, supplied by Tom Gunston. To be eventually communicated to Reality Jockey to see if they will take the app project on board.
